Do You Have a Flash Intro on Your Site?

Jeff and I were talking today about how many sites we have seen lately with “Flash Intros”. I thought people knew this was a thing of the past and that it did nothing to help them search engine wise.  Sometimes I forget that not everyone knows what we do or pays attention to the SEO side of things.

Please get Rid of The Flash IntroGet a good website!

  • Most people are irritated when they have to watch a Flash Intro or if they have to find the “Skip” link.
  • Google can’t see what your old-school Flash says, it does nothing to help you.
  • When the search engines come to your site you want them to see your home page and the text on that home page.
  • You are hurting yourself with it. I don’t have time to watch a Flash Intro. I have things to do, therefore I leave and find a modern-day website. How well is your site doing on the search engines? Maybe for your business name it is doing ok, but what about the services/products you offer? Google those.
  • It is quite “old-school” and it is time for a redesign/update. Have a site that will help you in the search engines and that is user-friendly.
  • Some sites can just turn the Flash off and do better…some just need to understand it is time to start over…enter a whole new world of “User-Friendly” websites, “Optimized” websites, websites that create “Trust” and websites the search engines can index!

Just a recommendation…

  1. Jeff says:

I personally can’t stand when I go to the site and am held hostage by a flash intro. Usually I just hit the back button.

    Think of it this way:

Would you subject all your customers to a quick video before they are able to walk in your actual storefront? I would think most customers would turn around and go to your competitor.

This is exactly what I do online.

I agree. The flash intros are very outdated and most people don’t really enjoy seeing them. I actually tend to leave a website immediately when I have to click through a flash intro.
