In this line of work the goal is to do what is best for the client. The client needs better rankings, a more appealing web site, an optimized web site and increased sales. Unfortunately, there are times when the group of people trying to make this happen just cannot get along.
I think there are some things that marketing teams, SEOs, clients and web designers need to keep in mind when working together:
Everyone...

The sad truth is that it takes a lot of time and dedication to make sure your web site or blog does well in the search engines. Unfortunately, as we can see with what happened to my blog, another problem is competitors…how low will they go to hurt your...

A Wide Site- The days of a skinny site are over. You want something wide and appealing. Wide computer screens are in and skinny sites look cheap and terrible on them, so if you are going to invest in a web site tell your web designer that you want it wide from the beginning. If you already have a site you love talk with your web designer and see if it can be expanded. Remember, the appearance of your site...

Well, to begin to understand what your meta keywords are you need to first look at your source page or any source page. (to view a source page you can either right click on a page and click “View Source” or you can go to “View” at the top of your screen and click on “Source”; a notepad page will pop up- some blogs do not have the defined areas I want you to see).
At the...

Well, first it is important to say that the phrase “Web 2.0″ was coined in 2004 by O’Reilly Media, Inc So, how can Web 2.0 help you? Basically it can allow you to use some free, but very popular, aspects of the net to advertise your business, products and/or services. You have several ways to do this:
You can blog for free! Blogging, if done right, is a great way to advertise your business,...

As you know Google does not like duplicate content and if you notice your site suddenly having problems with rankings make sure no one is using your content. I have a client whose site was not doing well at all and he didn’t know why. It ends up that the copywriter he used took all of his content off of the net from other sites. So, he paid me to rewrite it all and he had a lot. I recommend Copyscape...

Some people have heard that they should use keywords (in the meta keywords) they want to show up for. Guess what? That doesn’t work and the search engines do not like it. It appears as though you are spamming.
So, here is the real deal on Keywords: You only add words to your meta keyword list that are located in the copy/content, alt-tags and anchor text of that specific page. If you have a web site about...

You need to keep the web user on your site if you are hoping to become a resource, sell a product or sell a service. When you are designing your site, or a client’s site, you must keep in mind what will make things easier for those visiting the site.I believe every web site should be structured to be so easy to navigate that anyone can move around the site without confusion. If you are reading this blog...

Many people understand LSI as semantically close or distant and SEOs need to keep this in mind when optimizing. I believed this as well; I believed what I was told. Well guess what? This is totally wrong!
Dr. Edel Garcia has taken a lot of time to explain the misconceptions and misunderstandings of LSI. I suggest that anyone interested in SEO or those that have paid for LSI friendly services go to Dr. Garcia’s...

Ok people, here is the thing- I am so shocked that some web design/SEO companies still have no clue, whatsoever, about proper SEO. If you pay $20,000 for a web site there is no way in hell (excuse the language) that the “SEO expert” at the web design company cannot be aware that Keywords Stuffing and Meta Tag Stuffing is a bad thing, UNLESS they are not an expert at all!
On May 15-07 I wrote a...

I have spent the past week with potential clients stressed out because they do not feel they can afford web design and/or optimization services. Well, the truth is anyone can afford to create an effective and beneficial web presense. I wrote about affordable web design and I have pretty much explained on this blog what you need to optimize, but if you cannot afford it please understand that there are 4 areas...

Some “SEO Specialists” recommend obtaining content from places such as ArticleBase.com. This web site and several others have a lot of fantastic articles and anyone can use them on their web site as long as they include the author’s name and information. The problem is that an article can be used for content by thousands (or more) web owners to plump their content. Google is one search engine...

Unfortunately there are many that feel that the more links that lead to your website the better off you will be. This is completely untrue.
It is important to understand that links coming to you from sites with a low page rank will not help you and although some say it is no longer the case, in the past it hurt you. I tend to think it still does. I had a page rank of 4 and then suddenly my link showed up on...

Many know why using copywriters is beneficial, but not many people are aware of what an SEO Copywriter does. SEO Copywriters write web content that appeals to your audience, but more importantly they create content that targets specific keywords/keyword phrases. SEO Copywriters know what needs to be optimized within the web site, how to optimize it and how to integrate the SEO strategies with the content.
So...

Keyword Density is the number of times a Keyword or Keyword Phrase is used in proportion to the other words on the webpage. Keyword Density is a ratio and is almost always expressed in percentages, such as 2.5% or 10%. Basically, the more times a keyword appears the higher the density.
Although you want to include a keyword phrase, or search phrase, often you cannot use it too often. For example, if I included...
