As Search Engine Roundtable reported this morning, Google admits to removing SEOs and Web Designers from the local business listings. Obviously this bothers me a bit. We discussed seeing this on 12-14-09 in our entry “Where did the SEO’s go?”
I am a bit confused by Google’s thinking because the bottom line is the SEO industry has helped Google become what it is today!

OK, obviously I pay attention to where I stand organically and I was paying close attention to my local business center results as well. On Nov. 5 I commented on a post by Matt McGee about how all of our local listings were gone. They were for about a day, but all of them came back except for searches related to “Sarasota SEO”, “Sarasota Internet Marketing” and “Sarasota Web Design”.

I have been seeing that my search results look a bit different than before. I recently got a new computer with Windows 7, so I thought it may just be my computer. I started talking with Jeff Brooks and he said he saw the same thing. So I looked at all my computers and I see the same thing everywhere. The sponsored results have moved to the left quite a bit and I now have a larger white space on the far right…almost...

This is just my perspective of course. Let’s take SEO out of the equation completely and then let me give my reasons why I hate personalized search:
I want to find my own stuff; I don’t want Google putting what they think I should see in front of me.
Maybe I clicked on something by accident or a site I am not interested in…it doesn’t mean I want to see it again!
