Typesetting is typically knows as the process of presenting copy or text in print materials. The charge for Typesetting ranges from $60-$150 an hour. I have seen very pretty sites which are unreadable or to hard to read and stay involved in due to a lack of typesetting.
There are SEO Copywriters that understand the art of typesetting, but there are also many that do not. I have to say that I spent a lot of time reading and re-doing the type on my site, because I thought it was too hard to read. Background color and the size of the font and the color of the text is all a part of typesetting. It is art…
Typesetting for the Web & Why it is a Crucial Factor in Retaining Visitors
Web sites need to not only be readable, but also scannable. Most people scan first to determine whether or not they want to actually read the text. The best way to convince a reader to stay is by using clear, descriptive headlines. For example, I have “what is typesetting” and “typesetting for the web…” as headlines. I am sure you scanned the headlines here first and these headlines pretty much tell you what I am writing about and they help you determine whether or not you want to continue reading. However, you can over do headlines and that is a big no-no to me.
Proper Headlines
I have been to many sites that have a crazy amount of paragraphs with a crazy amount of headlines! I could read all day long and never finish and I HATE THOSE SITES! I see them everywhere and I know some dude sold a book on how to advertise on the web and everyone fell for it hook, line and sinker…well guess what? He was wrong. Those sites are irritating as heck!
Headlines need to basically be a small summary of the upcoming paragraph. You should not have too many and please do not have multiple colored headlines! If one headline is black and then you have a blue one and then a black one people are confused when scanning! They aren’t sure what is a headline and what isn’t so my recommendation is to keep all headlines the same color. Another bonus to headlines is that you can optimize them by placing keywords within the headline.
So, In Conclusion…
Typesetting is something you really need to have for a great web site… 🙂 Have a nice day!
