I am writing this to try answer some questions I get from my clients and emails from other SEO companies’ clients upset about the same things…

“My site went live and I Googled my business name and keywords and I am not #1!!”

OK, so here is the thing, the Web doesn’t work that way. For new websites indexing can take weeks and there is no guarantee that you will be on the first page of the SERPs anyway. This greatly depends on many things, but the biggest is competition. If there are other sites that have been in the top 5 or 10 your SEO company will have to work, and might have to work awhile, to pass them up.

(Before you comment and ask I do explain this to clients ahead of time, but it is often forgotten, so I am writing it here.)

“I Blogged About XYZ and I am not #1 for the Phrase!”

The above paragraph applies here. Clients are often shown blogs that do very well in the SERPs for many phrases and posts, but it takes a lot of work and time for blogs to be successful. Blogging twice a month, won’t get you there. Blogging about nothing won’t get you there. You have to write content that provides the reader with information that is valuable to them.You need to retain reader and bring in more readers.

Equally important, you have to create content that is unique and informational for the search engines. You need to write often and work hard to create a successful blog that the search engines will recognize. Google gets a lot of flack, but the truth is they are just trying to provide quality search results for their users.

Bottom Line – You want your site or blog to do well? It takes A LOT of work!

If you want your site or blog to do well and you do not have time for it you need to hire a company that can do that for you. Whether you choose to hire someone or do the work yourself you have to be patient. If you keep working your site or blog will rise in the SERPs.
