As a Christian I feel uncomfortable using the BS word, but there is no other, so here it goes.
Bottom line, do your job and if you can’t do it get out of the industry!
I may be a complete moron, but I really feel obligated to do a good job for my clients. In fact, in this economy I feel much more obligated because money is scarce for many businesses. Any money they choose to use on advertising is a risk, but I am going to make damn sure it won’t be a risk with my company.
In case you haven’t noticed I am angry, pissed and ticked off! I am sick and tired of meeting client after client that has been screwed over by this company or that one. I am sick of tallying up the money they have spent every month and seeing what they received for that money. I am also tired of the “my balls are bigger than yours” arguments with web designers. If I say that something needs to be done I am not saying it because I just smoked crack in the restroom! I am saying it because I am diligent and because I actually care about the client.
I am a planner and an analytical thinker. I am not a time waster. I plan out my optimization and marketing strategy and I get extremely detailed doing it. Why? Because the client deserves it! They are spending money because they need to make money. This is why myself and other reputable SEO companies have a list of what needs to get done. When you pay for a service you expect it to be done right. You have surgery and you hope they don’t cut off a leg by mistake! You expect good service and so do SEO and Web design clients. More importantly, they deserve it!
Lazy People, You REALLY Piss Me Off!
If you “know” and are just to lazy to “do” you are a moron. Feel blessed that you have a job and DO YOUR JOB. “Be all that you can be”…Do everything and earn the money you are taking.
BS SEO Contracts, I am sick of those too!
If you are offering SEO please read for awhile. Don’t read “Bob’s blog”, read real SEO industry sites and blogs. I had this argument with this moron that said he reads the blog of “The SEO expert”. So I asked, “What is his name? Which blog is his?”. I am not saying I read everything but I read a lot and I never heard of this guy. He has a blog on ning which to me doesn’t really count in this industry (sorry to offend, get a real blog). Don’t choose some random person to read, find the experts and read.
How do you define yourself as an expert? I don’t know, but I sure as heck would not call myself one just because I wanted to make money off of the title. Sadly, much of the business industry is not as educated on this industry as “the experts”, therefore they fall prey to the snake oil salesmen. I think this industry needs to step up and become focused on educating their clients and their communities on what we do and help people/businesses avoid losing money.
Those that are qualified need to ensure that this industry continues to grow and not die off because a bunch of jerk weeds are making money by lying about the services they offer or either offering it and having no clue they are lying. There are those that are truly ignorant. This week I have spoke with 2 “SEO and Web design” companies and they think they know what they are doing. I have to be honest, it scared me. If you don’t know the difference between a static or dynamic URL there is a problem. If you don’t know that there are ways to build websites that aren’t HTML you are in major trouble. If you don’t know that SEO is NOT about keyword density, monthly search engine submission or an Alexa rating than PLEASE take the service off your site!
“Our Company Gives Back…”
If you are web design and/or SEO company that has a page dedicated to all the ways you give back, I have a challenge for you.
Give back to your clients! If we don’t do all we can to help businesses stay afloat and/or grow we are hurting this economy. Imagine this – imagine helping your clients’ businesses grow and imagine that they can hire on additional employees and reduce the unemployment in your area. Even if it is just 1 or 2 or 5 it is something. Or, imagine they stay afloat and don’t have to let people go and another person isn’t added to unemployment. THAT is giving back and that is what our society needs at this time and that is what SEO Aware is focused on.
I have a responsibility to the people that hire me and so do you. The people that work with me have a responsibility and I HIGHLY recommend that other businesses think about this a bit. What can YOU do to really help your clients? If you don’t know what you are doing team up with a company that does! Don’t pocket monthly income just because you can. I am off to hit a my punching bag. Have a nice day!
