I am going to go a bit off topic here and tell you about a fantastic experience we had last night; remember I am a geek. We went to Star Wars in Concert and it wasn’t just fantastically amazing because I am a Star Wars fan; it was amazing because the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was outstanding!
Of course I know the music from the movies, I think we all know some parts, but I really know the music. To see each and every sound played right in front of you is nothing less than amazing. The show includes a 3-story high screen that plays various scenes and shots from the movie and even some parts of the movies. There is also fire and lasers which make the show more exciting at parts. Anthony Daniels, who has played C3PO in all 6 movies, narrates between songs and hearing him speak without being golden was so cool. We had front row seats so it took all my strength to not stand up and touch him :-).
Another bonus are the items on display from Skywalker Ranch. The Han Solo frozen in carbonite that was on the wall of Jabba’s palace is there…there is so much to look at. Get there when it opens because we stood in line a long time to see everything.
If you have kids and you want them to experience the symphony without complaining and boredom this is the show you need to take them to. I took my 17 year old and my 6 year old and they both couldn’t look away. The teenager didn’t even text! Not once, well during intermission, but not the show.
I believe this is the most exciting event I have ever been to because the music evokes so much emotion (and I love Star Wars). It was thrilling and I couldn’t stop smiling. The music was beautiful and I will never forget it. If you are thinking about going I highly recommend it. Let me also say that when I was looking for tickets I looked all over and found tickets for $200-300. Then I went to Ticketmaster who is the seller of the original tickets, we got 4 front row seats for around $70 a piece.
I also suggest you look at the Star Wars in Concert website at the t-shirts for sale and get the basic tour shirt for $24.99. They were $35 at our event. HOWEVER, the event offered some really cool shirts and hoodies that were not available online.
I will never forget last night. Our entire family had a fun experience together and technically it was a symphony. We just all wore Star Wars shirts and jeans (like everyone else). I would go again and again if I could. They have 21 shows left in the U.S. I hope you can attend one.
