I have now officially gone over 2 1/2 hours on the phone with AT&T wireless. All I wanted to do was upgrade my PDA. Shouldn’t be hard, right?
Well, it is and it always has been since the orginal AT&T change to Cingular. I have been with them that long and it seriously takes all the patience you can muster to not just go off and scream at people.
Shopping Online
I tried to buy the PDA online, but the billing address on record does not match my credit card billing address, so the order won’t go through. I am not allowed to change the default billing address, so I have to call the idiots.
Call #1
I talk to some airheaded little girl that says she can’t see my eligibility so to hold- 10 minutes later she tells me her system that looks at eligibility is down. Then, “Which phone did you want?”. I tell her and she says to hold…another 15 minutes and then- “Oh my system can’t see that either.” So I say, “So, you can’t help me at all?” and she responds “No. Are you satisfied with the service you received today?”…………What do you think? <working real hard to say/type nice words>
I explain the situation to the lady and she sends me to an Internet department. To make another long story short. After an hour he tells me he can’t help me buy the phone and if it doesn’t work online I can’t have the phone…
Call #3
I am determined to get the phone. A man has me filling out everything online and nothing works. He puts me on hold several times and says he needs to ask for help….nothing works…then he says he has to call the people that made the web site…No lie! So, together we were on hold for about 33 minutes and he tells me it would probably be better if I calle the myseld and gives me the phone number. I told him to forget it!
Do you have any advice on choosing a better wireless service that actually has phone support people that have made it past the 3rd grade? My fed-up meter was overflowing about 2 hours ago.
UPDATE!
Call #4 last 45 minutes where I was basically told that for now on to buy a phone- not the service, just a phone- a credit check must be done. There were other crazy rules that makes me think they are on crack, but I won’t go into them…I need a new phone service!
