I was talking to a work associate today and we were discussing how his clients were going to consistently update their blogs. His clients are in the legal arena and obtaining future clients through their blogs is a no-brainer, but consistently updating is a problem because they are outrageously busy.
All businesses can find creative ways to update their blogs. By using the resources you have you can have regular blog entries that will increase your company’s visibility and help you obtain clients. Your resources are you interns, employees, assistants, etc.
Law firms have a great opportunity to create an extremely successful blog; they can use their paralegals to create entries and by allowing them to use their names as the author of the blog entry law firms are allowing the paralegal to build an online reputation and at the same time they are helping their blog become successful by consistently updating it.
If you have interns or employees that you can see are driven to do more ask them if they would be interested in being an author on your blog. You can pay to have people update your blog and depending on how professional you want your blog to be you may need to, but there are most likely many employees in your company that are intelligent, insightful and creative. Use them. However, do not put all of the responsibility on one person. Find 3-5 people to help you; it is too much for one person.
Because of RSS feeds and Internet exposure I would highly recommend that your business name and URL be a part of every post/entry, but if you are asking someone to write for you it won’t hurt to have their name on the entry. It will help them build their reputation and it will help them build self-confidence as well. It will also show your readers that you have many intelligent and capable employees on your staff and this makes your company more trustworthy. I would recommend you or a supervisor read the entry before it is posted, but in the end everyone wins.
Just a thought,
