I know I haven’t posted anything SEO related in a while. I have been pretty busy for months. However, I want to discuss something and if you agree fine, if you don’t that is fine too.

The economy is bad, as we all know. I am glad I had savings this year. We are budgeting and life isn’t as easy, but there are millions of Americans that are suffering. I have a truck load of toys and other items I was going to sell or try to have a garage sell and see if I could bring in some cash and then it was like God kind of knocked me on the head and said “people need it”.

Look in the wanted section in your local Craigslist.

Mine has people begging for food for their kids and used toys for the kids for Christmas. Some are offering to do work for free in exchange. In one ad I read a man was offering to trade his work tools for food. Makes you think…Sure I could use extra money, but many could use anything we have.

I have a lot of toys in to get rid of that are in fantastic shape, so I put some ads out in various places and offered them to families. I own a large truck and it is full of toys and nice clothes to get rid off. I know a lot of organizations say “new toys only” and I have noticed their bins are looking kind of empty this year. There is nothing wrong with used toys or clothes in good shape. Look at Ebay!

I posted ads yesterday and as of this morning so many families have contacted me for clothes I offered that ranged in sizes from toddler to teenager. People are asking for toys, some are asking for crayons. People will be happy with anything. I had people that have lost their homes, people that have lost spouses…aunts and uncles raising children that lost their homes…I have no right to complain about money issues. I have it quite nice.

Just Consider

If you have items you just don’t know what to do with and you were thinking about dropping them off at a local donation place maybe ask if they are going to give these items to people or sell them to people. Some people can’t afford to spend anything this year. Look in Craiglist and maybe find an actual family who needs some of the items you have. There are scammers out there, but you can rule them out pretty easily.

The holidays are really about loving one another and being kind to one another, so maybe think about others in your community. A few free toys may not seem like much to you, but to a family that has nothing to give their kids this year it could mean everything.
