What you can give to the non-SEOs you love!
1). An Optimized Website With a Smart, Focused Goal
We have had a ton of calls the past 45 days from businesses that think they know what they want for a new or current website. After speaking with them we have been shocked at how many are not concerned with things that matter such:
- Promoting their company
- Increasing revenue / Conversion
- Expanding into local markets
- Promoting products and services and everything else they have to offer
Only one has understood that promoting their holding company may not be the way to go and promoting what makes them money was.
2). A Website That is Idiot Proof
I have been writing for years about people not wanting to work when they go to a website. I don’t think anyone is listening! Idiot proof, user-friendly, easy – focus on these (yes, they are all the same, but perhaps you like one phrase more than another). If you can’t give a nice site to someone you love, tell them about idiot proof websites.
3). SEO Myth Busters (FYI, I looked. The domain is taken already)
Send people you love a Valentine’s Day card or a newsletter that explains SEO myths and DESTROY them. You may not want to work with your brother-in-law, or him with you, but you can educate him so he doesn’t get ripped off in the future. Tell someone what to avoid. You could make sugar cookies and write myth-busters in icing…fun!
4). A Top Ten List of What They Are Doing Wrong on the Web
Hey, why not? If they are doing it wrong just tell them. You could use pink construction paper and doilies to make it seem nicer?
5). A Properly Set-Up WordPress Blog (I use “properly” for those that think they are experts)
That’s right! Set them up a WordPress blog and give them some tips on how to use it effectively! Introduce them to a whole new world of blogging, blogging communities, social media, traffic and increased sales. Then tell them they own you a big Christmas gift!
